How ClearIndex labels sales velocity

| 40%+ below (≤ −40%) | Slow Mover |
| 20–39% below | Slowing |
| −19% to +9% | Steady |
| 10%+ above | Rising |
Change = (current sales velocity ÷ trailing average − 1) × 100. Compare equivalent periods. For decimal changes, Slowing is above −40% through −20%; Steady is above −20% and below +10%. A zero or missing average cannot support a percentage flag.
A velocity flag describes a sales trend, not stock age or a proven need to discontinue an item.
